REPORT FROM VOIVODESHIP CHAMPIONSHIPS
WARMIŃSKO-MAZURSKIEGO IN KYOKUSHIN KARATE, Szczytno, Poland 2021
On Saturday, June 5, the Kyokushin Karate Championship of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship took place in Szczytno. The competition was organized by the Szczycieński Kyokushin Karate Club under the leadership of shihan Piotr Zembrzuski. 124 players from 8 clubs from the Warmian-Masurian region took part in the competition. The honorary patronage over the event was assumed by the Marshal of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, Mr. Gustaw Marek Brzezin, and the official opening was made by the Mayor of Szczytno, Mr. Krzysztof Mańkowski, and the Starost of the Szczycieński District, Mr. Jarosław Matły. The special guest was Paweł Papke, Member of the Polish Parliament. The competition was at a very high level, the fights were very fierce and the referees often had to order extra time to determine the winners. Among the fighters there were medalists of the Polish Championship, who significantly raised the bar for their rivals. The representatives of Szczytno did a great job in this wonderful company, winning the first place in the team, ahead of Olsztyn and Olecko. Ewa Gołaszewska from Szczytno was recognized as the best fighter of the tournament. Several Szczytno fighters showed great versatility, winning medals in both Kata and Kumite. People who won two gold discs each deserve special mention: Ewa Gołaszewska, Olaf Szempliński, Natalia Hajn, Jan Rogala, Paula Wąsewicz and Łucja Dragun. – In addition to the victory, an excellent atmosphere is important, which was visible at every step both among the starters and the parents helping to organize the tournament – comments shihan Piotr Zembrzuski – our own hall and family atmosphere made our fighters fought as inspired and had a great time at the same time. On this occasion, we should warmly thank all local government units: the Szczytno City Hall, the Szczytno Commune and the Poviat Starosty in Szczytno, for their financial support for the championship as well as for giving gifts and souvenirs to the participants.
